California Train Group

The California Train group is a large organization of survivors and specialists led by Thomas Rush who are helping rebuild the United States of America, providing support to farms and settlements around the region. The player who controls the Captain will be an active member of the faction before they encounter the Highwaymen.

Background

The California Train Group is a mobile collective of specialists based in California, led by Thomas Rush and supported by personnel such as The Captain and Garrett Barnes. Operating out of San Francisco after its post apocalyptic reconstruction, the group is dedicated to restoring infrastructure, establishing settlements, and sharing their expertise across the United States. Their fields of work include bio farming, engineering, construction, and community planning.

Traveling by train along the West Coast and beyond, the group functions as a roaming task force, offering assistance to struggling regions in hopes of triggering long-term, large-scale recovery. Their efforts gain momentum after rebuilding significant portions of California, positioning them as one of the most effective reconstruction focused organizations in the post collapse era. The faction is well armed, having a large armory of rifles and pistols on the train.

Mission to Hope County

The group becomes involved with Hope County after Carmina Rye contacts Thomas Rush, requesting support against the Highwaymen, a violent raider faction led by two twins. Rush views Hope County and its settlement of Prosperity as an opportunity to expand the group’s rebuilding efforts further east.

While on route to assist, the California Train Group’s convoy is ambushed by a Highwaymen group personally led by their leaders Mickey and Lou. The train is destroyed, separating the survivors and forcing the leadership to navigate the wreckage under hostile pursuit wanting to take them for their own reasons. The Captain and Thomas Rush eventually reach Prosperity and help upgrade the settlement as well as others around the region.

• The group has helped rebuild settlements and farms in states such as California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho.
• Any members of the faction you helped or saved from attacking Highwaymen during the mission Crawling from the Wreckage will not be seen again as they aren't able to find and reach the county without their guide, Carmina Rye.
• It is implied no one else other than Thomas, The Captain and Carmina survived as Carmina states she thinks no one else made it out.
