Minigun

The mounted Minigun is a heavy assault weapon only appearing in the original Far Cry that can only be used when mounted on enemy gun placements in camps, towers, and bunkers.

Description

It has a fairly long range and is quite accurate, killing enemies in a matter of seconds, and it holds unlimited ammo. Its high rate of fire and bullet calibre is capable of easily shredding vehicles.

It is also mounted on Blackhawk Helicopters of the Krieger Corporation.

Glitches

It is possible to acquire an invisible, portable minigun as a 5th weapon through a glitch on the Boat level. Simply use a minigun when the level ends, and it will appear in Jack's weapons inventory on subsequent levels.

Note that if a regular mounted minigun is used afterwards, the minigun will be removed from the inventory. Also, the minigun is removed if the game triggers cause all weapons to be removed from inventory.

Trivia

• It is arguably the best anti-infantry weapon in the game, given its fast fire rate, infinite ammo and not being able to overheat.
• Players should be beware as when it's targeted as specific areas or enemies, its accuracy decreases but if pointed to anywhere else it has laser point accuracy. The possible reason behind this is probably for the sake of balance.
• Unlike all other weapons in Far Cry Classic, which have recieved a visual revamp, the Minigun and the Mk 19 Grenade Launcher have kept their original looks.
• It is the first minigun to be introduced in the Far Cry games, though would miniguns appear absent from the franchise, for a long time, until with the return of the El Pequeño in Far Cry 6.
